HYPNOTIC BRASS IN HYDE PARK

It's taken a number of things to get us this far. I'll only speak of one right now, the people. The real music lovers. We could'nt do it without you. It was good to see the Blur bring the people out. Even better to see that crowd rockin to H.B.E. With the mixture of music that was on that stage, if you missed that event then you missed history. AND ONE HELL OF A PARTY.

ROUND 2 STARTS WITH GLASTONBURY

See that look in our faces. Nobody told us we were supposed to bring boots and tents. How funny is that? This is one of the top festivals in the world. So if you like festivals and you've never been to GLASTO, you must make the pilgramage.

As far as i hear, the Blur had a killer show. Besides them, guess who had one of the best shows at Glasto 09? If you don't know who the Blur are, then look them up. They got some s%!t for he real music lovers. But more about Damon and company later.

FAMILY OWNED

We are the sons of a man that taught us to be ourselves. Also to cultivate and express ourselves. No matter the fashion we choose. It took alot to make it this far. Hard choices and impossible missions. Now with the torch that was passed to us, we bring it around the world spreading the fire that creates new thoughts. Don't be afraid to stand out and let the world know who you are. Learn From everybody around you without sacrificing your personal style. Music is our tool to open all ears to this same message and mission.
ITS OUR PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE COMING OUT TROUGH OUR HORNS.

Amsterdam interview and more Hypnotic goodies

A promise is a promise, so here's more photos and videos from yours truly. We know it's hard to keep up with the hardest working band on earth (No sleep for the touring!) so we're here to give you a little leg-up.

It all started in Norway...

Street shot from Stavanger, Norway. Whoever said Scandinavian women are icy is dead wrong. Just look at those smiles... (PS. Yosh's white jacket is crispy!)

Then just not that long ago, we were back in Amsterdam for another epic show. We did this interview with this radio chick. The all mighty DJ Pay. The girl got skillz. You can watch right here. If we don't look too cooperative, remind yourself it was mad early and that we was in Amsterdam City after all. Case closed.

Also, to any Chi-town heads watching... Yosh didn't really mean Amsterdam is home. What he meant was more like Amsterdam is our new summer home, you know, like some sweet cottage you go to in the summer, when the weather is nice. No need to go and get all mad, people! You know the other Baji Twin. Every where he gose is his home.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble interview (june '09) from Pay Jamz on

And there was also a collection of shots from a gig we did in the UK we wanted to send your way. Looking over them, we can only conclude that the photographer (a sweet chick with a big smile and long hair) was either stuck in that corner of the room all night, or else she definitely had a little something going on for our youngest recruit Rocco. Either way. From these shots, you could think the band ended somewhere around Clef, with not a trumpet in sight... See for yourself.

Sweaty Rocco

More sweaty Rocco

...

...

(See what I'm sayin?)

I swear we was all there...

One last shot for posterity: looks like the "Hypnotic Brass Quartet" or some ish! Move over to the other side too next time... You just might like what you find.

Brooklyn Interlude

Just as the brothers are packing their bags and crossing the Atlantic for a little breather back in the United States, the New Yorker magazine is publishing a mad decent write-up about your favorite Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. (You can read Sasha Frere-Jones' article here.) Although everybody is not sure they like how they look in Pablo Lobato's cartoon, (whatever happened to Hudah's head? And to Yosh's jumbo jaw? WTF!), the article was a nice reminder that not everyone back at home is sleeping on the best brass act in the galaxies.

Trouble brewing: the Bass Section.

The four Horsemen of the Apocalypse a.k.a the Trumpet Section.

Hypnotic in sunny Norway, hanging ninja-style on the docks.

So if you felt a little tear coming cause you missed Hypnotic when they came to your hood (peep the above video from the Paris gig at New Morning and see if you don't feel like hitting yourself upside the head for staying in and ordering Chinese), or if the brothers' European circuit hasn't hit your town yet, just know that we'll back in a minute with renewed bounce, beats and vision.

In the mean time, mosey on to iTunes and cop our new album on Honest Jons. And if you're in Europe, well, you already know a little visit to HMV is all you need to do to dramatically improve your day. As true brass addicts know, securing a little Hypnotic love between live shows is never a bad idea.

Kicking it Euro-style

These are epic times for the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. After having enraptured already-loyal crowds and made new fans all over England and Ireland over the last month, the brothers now prepare to wrap up the first half of their 2009 European Summer Tour, with a quick succession of dates in France (Paris, June 3), the Netherlands (Amsterdam on June 4, Rotterdam June 5) and Italy (Navarra, June 6), all before they fly back to the U.S. of A. for some well-deserved R&R at the new Brooklyn pad. The tour will then get back on track in early July, when Hypnotic Brass hits the stage with Blur for a big blowout in Hyde Park, London.

The first stretch of the tour has been brothers hustling hard and getting a lot more props than beauty sleep. Traditional European media has been paying close attention to the eight brothers from Chicago, who were showcased in an episode of the celebrated television show Later with Jools Holland on BBC Two (watch their live performance in the BBC courtyard here). Hey, HBE even has its own artist page on the BBC website now. Innit bossy?

Social media networks have also been spreading the Hypnotic love through Twitter and other such sites. A quality 30-minute recording, courtesy of Paris DJs, has surfaced in the Twitterverse and basically gone viral. This is what the guys over at Paris DJs ("Our Music is a Secret Order") had to say: Bold
"This Hypnotic Brass Ensemble blew my mind the first time I heard them. I had seen some videos on YouTube but was finally able to grab two copy of their War/Mercury 10 inch at a local record store (thank you to the kind people selling Jazz and World @ Gibert Joseph in Paris!)... The spare one went into the hands of Pierre from Souljazz Orchestra who got to see them onstage a few days after, opening for Mos Def in Amsterdam. He told me they totally stole the show, which I'm sure they did! Listening to their rare self-released albums (on CDR you can buy at their shows) or concert that are circulating on the Internet (you gotta check the one with Tony Allen!) can only mean one thing: the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is currently one of the few killer live bands out there!! They'll be playing next Wednesday in Paris at the New Morning and we have 10 tickets to offer - be there or be square!"

So stay tuned for more highlights, pics and vids as the season heats up. This here summer is poised to go down in history. Peace.
